Ladybug steam cakes

Ladybug ladybird steam cakes. I have been playing with the electric steamer I got for my birthday.

There are so many things you can do with a steamer!

After trying a few savory things I am now trying sweet.

I saw some lovely steam cakes by bentomonsters and went looking for recipes and how to. I found a recipe at mimibakery

I had some of the ingredients to hand but not all so I improvised recipe below.

Ladybug Steam cakes
Recipe:

2 cups flour
1 cup sugar granulated because that's what I had
150ml skimmed milk regular milk is good but I didn't have any
3 eggs straight from fridge
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk

Directions:

Mix everything together on medium speed in mixer for 5 minutes.

Set aside 3 tablespoons color brown with food coloring put in a Wilton Squeeze Bottle or piping bag.

Set aside 1 tablespoon in a Wilton squeezy bottle or small piping bag

Color the of the mix red.

Fill silicone Cupcake cases about 2/3 full. (I am not sure how regular paper cupcake cases would hold up to steamer.)

Then draw a cross with the brown and fill half in.

Draw three dots each side.

Dot large dots of plain for eyes and then a small dot of brown.

Pop any big air bubbles with a tooth pick.

Gently place in steamer make sure they do not touch the sides.

Steam for about 16 to 18 minutes.

It will depend on your steamer my first batch came out gooey in the middle. They will rise nicely but need to steam a bit longer to set.

Best eaten warm and fresh.

I am going to try different designs so experiment and have fun.
