Baby Cool Penguin bento box and Animal Palz sandwich cutters

Happy Halloween!

I just love this new bento box by cutezcute I bought from BentoUSA . This one is the baby bento buddies cool Penguin. There is also a panda and owl box available. I haven't found a CuteZcute product I haven't liked yet and these do not disappoint!

Cutezcute baby bento buddies cool penguin bento box

It has two layers and a lid which doubles as a bowl so if you want to send a thermos of soup you can pour into a bowl. There is also enough room for a sachet of instant soup or a packet of gummies to tuck inside. It comes with a elasticated band to hold it all together. It is a smaller sized lunch box if you are used to american lunch boxes (but an average size bento box) but I easily fit enough in it to feed my kids and it's great because of the bowl to send with soup or pasta for those extra hungry days.

I packed my last Halloween lunch for the year lettuce, raspberries, cheese crackers and three cutezcute bat pocket sandwiches!

The bats are one of four great designs in the new CuteZcute Animal Palz. There is a bat, panda, monkey and lamb.

The sandwiches are super easy to make and you can fill with what you like. I used pumpernickel bread and sun butter. Sealed sandwiches are great as the filling doesn't leak out and these are a great size for kids.
I also tucked in a spider cupcake ring and a Happy Halloween pick.

If the pocket sandwiches aren't adorable enough you can make molded boiled eggs here are the monkey and panda peeking out from egg cups.

Both the CuteZcute Baby Bento Buddies Box and the CuteZcute Animal Palz are available from Bentousa or from Amazon.

Simple Halloween lunch

Usually I post my fancy lunches that I have planned and thought about what I am going to make. Today you will see what I normally do day in day out. I have three kids to pack for everyday and I pack the night before often late at night so no brain power can be involved!

This is what I usually pack for my son who is a fussy eater, my two daughters lunches are usually healthier as they don't think vegetables are evil! So sandwich with spooky pick and bat pick, cheese stick, cheese crackers with a spider cupcake ring,  raspberries and a gummy eye. Takes less than 5 minutes to pack in a PlanetBox Rover Lunchbox. All the picks I get from All things for sale

Frightful Fall Hop Zero the Ghost Dog Bento

It's a Frightful Fall Blog Hop! I bring to you, Zero the Ghost dog from The Nightmare before Christmas.

Zero is Jack Skellingtons Ghost Dog and has a glowing pumpkin nose.

Nightmare before christmas Zero the Ghost dog bento

Zero is made from a slice of Jicama with a tomato nose (realized afterwards I should have used an orange tomato).

He is on a sandwich of marbliscious rye swirl bread from the HEB bakery.

I just cut him out with a craft knife using a sketch on parchment.

The top left has Greek yogurt with honey and colored orange. On top sits a Ghoulie Gummy jack o lantern from Trader Joes.

Below this is a babybel cheese with a gummy eye (I got this from Target Monsters University Gummy Eyeballs)

Raspberries and cherry tomatoes fill two compartments

Then the inspiration for the lunch a marshmallow Jack Skellington face.

This was from a lollipop at Walgreens it had two heads and then gummy swirls so I just took it apart).

All in a PlanetBox Rover.

Charlotte's Web Bento

I bought some Halloween themed background papers in hopes of Halloween lunch inspiration. Instead I got inspiration to make this Charlotte's Web lunch.

Charlotte's Web lunch

The little spiders on the webs reminded me of Charlotte's children floating away on their webs.

Charlotte is made from cheese and Nori on a web made from tortilla with AmeriColor marker to draw the web and "some pig"

Wilbur the pig is made from Ham. Well he is a pig! Underneath Wilbur and the web is a sandwich

Some pig bento

In the other hat of the box is raspberries and blackberries, Trader Joes yoghurt stars, sweet bell peppers and a couple of Ghoulie Gummies from Trader Joes.

All packed in a Monbento box.

TruMoo review

I am part of the Bzzagent program and was sent some coupons to try TruMoo's Halloween chocolate milk or special edition orange colored vanilla milk.

TruMoo halloween review

It took me a little while to find it. I found the Chocolate milk although only in the smaller sized packets in Randall's, I searched several supermarkets and couldn't find the orange colored milk.

They do have a place on their website to find stockists though.

They also have some great fun recipes for Halloween themed drinks and a contest to win a trip to see behind the scenes at a Goosebumps filming. If you enter you also get a coupon off the latest Goosebumps DVD.

TruMoo adds pure cocoa and just enough sugar to fresh, pure milk from your local dairy to create a chocolaty taste, all with no high fructose corn syrup. It comes in at 140 calories per serving although this differes based on your location as its made from local dairies.

My eldest enjoying her TruMoo chocolate milk
Out of my three kids only one really liked this Milk. I think they found the 1% a little watered down, but my kids have been drinking whole milk recently. Price wise it was a little pricey where I found it at $3.79 a half gallon. I think my kids will probably stick to the chocolate milk brand they have been drinking but I still want to try the special edition orange vanilla milk.

I recived a coupon from Bzzagent to try this product. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions are my own.

Roald Dahl Day Blog Hop Esio Trot

It's Roald Dahl day today. To celebrate the great authors birthday I did a lunch about a cute little fellow named Alfie the tortoise. Who helps bring a couple together.

Esio Trot is a Wonderful little little book and I hope you are inspired today by our Blog hop to go read a Roald Dahl book to yourself or your kids. Or go visit Roalddahlday.info for more ideas.

I love the magic turtle language, my daughter spent the day talking backwards!

ESIO TROT, ESIO TROT,
TEG REGGIB REGGIB!
EMOC NO, ESIO TROT,
WORG PU, FFUP PU, TOOHS PU!
GNIRPS PU, WOLB PU, LLEWS PU!
EGROG! ELZZUG! FFUTS! PLUG!
TUP NO TAF, ESIO TROT, TUP NO TAF!
TEG NO, TEG NO, ELBBOG DOOF!

Roald Dahl Day Esio Trot Bento

Alfie (or is it one of his doppelgangers?) is made of three sorts of tortilla spinach, whole wheat and flour for the grabber. He is sitting on French toast sandwich.

The many, many tortoises that Mr Hoppy buys are cheese crackers ( Ok so they might be turtles, but I did sort them out from all the Shamu and friends crackers!)

ESIO TROT is spelled out in Scrabble cheese-it's  on top of lettuce and mini grapes. Then sweet bell peppers and a spinach leaf and some grapes for Alfie to munch on.

All served up in a PlanetBox Rover

Oh and if you haven't figured it out yet ESIO TROT is TORTOISE backwards!

Now go visit my bento friend at Bento Days by clicking on the Roald Dahl day button below for another Roald Dahl Day Lunch

Little Red Riding Hood Bento

Once upon a time there was a dear little girl who was loved by everyone who looked at her, but most of all by her grandmother, and there was nothing that she would not have given to the child. Once she gave her a little riding hood of red velvet, which suited her so well that she would never wear anything else; so she was always called 'Little Red Riding Hood.'

Little red riding hood bento

In my Lunchbots Duo is a strawberry and red pepper Red Riding Hood. With a cheese face with nori face. On a bed of mixed green and mini grapes. The basket is cut from a tortilla.

Then the big bad wolf is cut from nori on top of a jam sandwich with cheese sticks and crackers. The grass is silicon baran.

Go see these other great Red Riding Hood lunches from my Bento friends.

Back to school Review and Giveaway - MOMables

It's finally dawned on me that its back to school tomorrow...

Yes, I have been trying to deny the fact!

It hit home after an attempt to go shoe shopping for son who lost a shoe on the last day of our road trip and daughter who managed to wear a hole in the top so her toe sticks out.

Now they have other shoes but they are not allowed to wear open toes and boots are a bit hot for Texas. The outcome of the crazy shopping trip,  where aisles were like battlefields and boxes kept falling on my head, was beside me realizing I need to shop ahead for shoes next year is that I also need to plan ahead for school lunches!

I pack lunches for three kids, five times a week. It often gets to Wednesday/Thursday and I don't have a clue what to put in their lunchboxes. This year I have been given the opportunity to try a great lunch planning service by MOMables so I can plan and shop prepare on the weekend and have the whole week organized with a healthy variety of foods.

So what is MOMables?

MOMables is a school lunch meal planning service that helps parents feed their kids a variety of lunches they will love. Their one simple plan approach has built in substitutions for vegetarian, gluten free and nut free options when needed (it is not a dairy free or vegan plan).

The plan has the menu with directions, photos, tips, prep ahead ideas and a shopping list. The plans are in full color so you can either save to your computer or device or you can print them and put in a recipe folder (they come in an easily printable format). I have been saving mine to my ipad to refer back to.

MOMables was started by Laura Fuentes, a mom of 3 kids under seven years old, to help other parents get out of the lunch packing rut. MOMables offers a weekly school lunch meal plan with 5 lunch ideasa prep-ahead sheet and a shopping list to help us busy parents feed our kids good food they will actually eat for only $6 per month!
So not only are ideas and recipes provided but you can print your shopping list so you can make sure you have everything you need. No more mid week grocery trips! There is lots of variety from completely new ideas to jazzed up old favorites. All the recipes are flexible enough to allow for substitutions or additions. So if you have a picky eater or kid with allergies no problem.
Laura has been kind enough to offer my readers a sample week of MOMables for FREE, when you sign  up for their weekly newsletter. It’s also loaded with free recipes, tips and so much more.

So What did I make?

I made MOMables mini quiches.

They were super easy and quick and from ingredients most have on hand and they are easy to change up.

I happened to have some bear silicone baking cups so thought this would be a good use for them. Although any muffin tins work and I made the rest in regular tins.

All packed in an EasyLunchbox

Now to the giveaway:

MOMables is giving my readers the chance to win a 3 month subscription to their meal plan
